You will need an F-1 student visa to enter the United States for
full-time study at the American Language Institute. To apply for
an F-1 student visa at the U.S. embassy or consulate in your home
country, you will need an I-20 (link to sample I-20). To receive
an I-20, you must complete the ALI Application
Form and provide a financial statement.
Please allow a minimum 1-2 weeks to process your application.

$175 is charged for all programs. We accept cashier's checks, money orders, cash (in the exact amount) or wire transfers. Checks should be made payable to "SDSU Research Foundation." We do not accept personal checks. Please contact the ALI for bank wire transfer information.
- Financial Statement
You must show you have existing funds to cover tuition and
$1000 per month in living expenses. Statements must be on
official bank letterhead, dated within the last six months
and include the account holder's name and the account type.
Your statement may be in your currency or U.S. dollars.
You can mail or fax a copy of this document to the ALI.
If you have a scholarship a Letter of Financial Guarantee
is required.
